Energy Power Partners (EPP) worked together with the Cumberland County Authority (the Authority) and Heartland Water Technology to build an on-site landfill fluids treatment facility. Historically, the Authority worked with the local wastewater treatment plant (POTW) by providing onsite leachate treatment utilizing Reverse Osmosis (RO) Technology and disposing the RO Concentrate to POTW. Changes in regulation forced the Authority to haul significant amounts of the RO concentrated liquid over 40 miles.
EPP saw an opportunity to help the Authority address its leachate disposal challenges and increase the overall efficiency of the landfill gas-to-energy plant concurrently by using previously wasted engine exhaust to evaporate RO Concentrate using the CoVAP™ configuration of Heartland’s LM-HT® Concentrator.
Hear from Gerard Velazquez, III President/CEO Cumberland County Authority and Steve Gabrielle of EPP on how the project came to be, and how they turned lemons into lemonade.
